Instructions for applying for a temporary resident card for foreigners

In addition, the temporary resident card in Vietnam for foreigners has several benefits, including:
- Conduct business or marriage procedures in Vietnam easily
- Buy an apartment and be able to buy a house in Vietnam in the near future
- Guarantee for grandparents, father, mother, wife, husband, children to visit Vietnam
- To sponsor a spouse and children under 18 years old to come to Vietnam to live with them while their temporary resident card is still valid and approved by the inviting or sponsoring agency or organization.

1. What is a temporary resident card?
Article 3 of Law No 47/2014/QH13 regarding the entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam in 2014 clearly defines the temporary resident card (Vietnam temporary resident card). Accordingly: “Temporary resident card is a document issued by an immigration management agency or a competent agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to a foreigner who is allowed to reside in Vietnam for a definite time and has a valid temporary resident card alternative value of visa (visa).
2. Requirements and conditions for applying for a temporary resident card
- Agencies, organizations and enterprises with headquarters located in the locality, when applying for temporary resident cards for foreigners, need to submit documents proving their legal status at the Immigration Department of the provincial-level police station profile includes:
- License or Decision of the competent authority on the establishment of the organization (notarized)
- The organization's operation registration document (notarized) issued by a competent agency of the People's Committee of the province or city directly under the central government
- Introduction document, stamp, signature of the legal representative of the organization.
The above submission only occurs once. When there is a change in the contents of the dossier, the enterprise must send a written notice to the immigration authority to supplement the dossier.
- Foreigners who enter Vietnam to operate by the provisions of Vietnamese law, currently residing in Vietnam for one year or more and not subject to the category of "delayed exit" specified in Clause 1 of this Article 9 Ordinance on entry, exit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, they will be considered for issuance of temporary resident cards valid from 1 year to 3 years, specifically:
- Being prosecuted for criminal liability or being the defendant in civil, economic, and labor disputes
- Being obligated to execute a criminal sentence
- Being obligated to execute civil and economic judgments
- Being obligated to comply with decisions on sanctioning administrative violations, tax payment obligations and other financial obligations.
3. Documents to prepare to submit a temporary resident card
- Profile composition:
- A written request from the agency, organization or individual that carries out the procedures for invitation and guarantee (Form NA6 for agencies or organizations, form NA7 for individuals)
- Application form for temporary resident card for foreigners (Form NA8)
- Proof of eligibility for a temporary resident card is one of the following documents: work permit, confirmation of being the head of a representative office, a member of the Board of Directors or other valid documents proof of eligibility for a temporary resident card
- 02 2cmx3cm photos
- Certificate of temporary resident registration or temporary resident registration book of the foreigner certified by the police of the ward or commune where the foreigner is temporarily residing in Vietnam (if any)
- Original passport (valid for at least 1 year, or 2 years if you want to display a 2-year temporary resident card. Passport with a visa for the right purpose of work, with the symbol LD or DN guaranteed by the company itself to ask for)
- Number of documents: 01 (one) set.
